The ride down to Santorini from Naxos took us about 7 hours. We had perfect winds and the sail was as good as it gets- we had absolute down wind that alowed us to have our sails ”butterflied” almost all the way. The best thing with strong downwind is that Anna does not get seasick even though we are traveling pretty fast.
I have never been on Santorini before and I was amazed to see the place- it´s one of the most beautiful places I have ever seen. The village where we are now is placed up high on cliffs at least 100-150 meters above sea level and the narrow paths up from where we are ”parked” the boat was trafficked by Donkeys who was taking tourists on their backs up from the cruise ships. NO- we didn´t ride on a donkey- we used our ”running” legs- and it was hard J
We stopped at a place called Oia that was the first village on the Island if you are coming from the north, we managed to ”steal/borrow” a buoy that we tied up the boat to- to be on moored at a buoy is the best- you know that you are safe and that you wont drag as you might do when you are on anchor and you don´t need to worry about getting damages on the boat as when you are tied up to a wall.
