Grandma Danny – by Patrik

Daniel is sweet, Before our late arrival on Corfu we originally thought that we would stay in an hotel for a day.  Easier transition for Vilda and us, we could also get a good sleep before taking a taxi down to the harbor in the middle of the night, carrying our bags and so forth. But Daniel called me the day before with a sweet tone in the voice, informing me that the boat was cleaned, the sheets newly washed and that he would prepare breakfast in the morning. He sounded a bit like my grandma.

“You shouldn’t waste money, remember that we our hippies now”

Kids aboard!!

Ok, our grandma wouldn’t  say that but the meaning was the same. And I must say that through out the trip, so far at least, we have been pampered with and I have with a kind of glaring enjoyment watch how eager he is to make our stay as good as possible.  We are brothers after all and he doesn’t need to change their hippie ways a bit for us, in fact he could have given us “scrub & clean” duty and we would still have enjoyed are stay.

But here we are, “Do you want to sail, do you want us to take Vilda so you and Anna can go out for dinner, do you want to swim, snorkel, hunt with harpoon and so forth. A professional travel agent would have glared in despaire on the competition.

In writing moment we are making 8 knots on are way to somewhere in greece, sailing for 18 hours straight trying to get headway on our delayed travelplan. We will be here for two weeks and the first five days went past so fast so we forgot ourselves a bit. Maybe it was the snorkel and harpoon gear that delayed us, both me and Daniel can be a bit manic with new ideas and hobbies so. I should tell you about the Christmas when we bought helicopters for all our money but I will not.

Instead I want to write something about now and the simple truth is that we are a bit older and wiser now than before. Some would say that we are more boring but the fact is that we both, and our families, enjoys sitting in the aft with a good barbeque going. We drink the Greek specialty Ouzo, moderate of course. No heavy drinking so far and for that I am quite pleased. There are simply to much to do to be hang-over and I for one have fully enjoyed the trip so far.

I will write again at the end of the journey (if someone cares about that, I have no idea) but I want to end this piece with the notion that to have a 3-year old aboard is easy. On the “porch” of Baydreamer there is plenty of things you apparently can climb in about a thousand different ways. The complete collection of Disney is available on the in-sail computers when swimming and bathing has lost is thrill. And for some reason she loves to walk around in the different city centers where she takes the lead as guide.
