The sail BVI´s to Turks and Caicos was as expected really slow and it took us 4 whole days to travel 400 miles. Besides the slow speed the trip was actually pretty good. Anna did not get seasick and we also managed to see two whales playing around in the far distance.
- Turks and Caicos.
On our approach to Grand Turk where we are at the moment we managed to get in radio contact with a guy that goes under the call sign BONEFISH. He is not hired by the government, he is on his own initiative helping out sailors that visits Grand Turks. He talked us thru the reefs so that we could find a safe spot to anchor and he even drove us to the customs office in his car.
This whole checking in and out procedure cost us a total of 100 us dollars?! 50 dollar to check in and 50 dollars to check out- the most expensive anchoring ever!!
Thank you very much for this service- BONEFISH (Channel 16)
Yesterday afternoon we went out and snorkeled on a reef just next to the boat. The water was unbelievable clear- I have never seen this clear water anywhere before- it actually felt like swimming around in a newly cleaned aquarium.
Both Anna and me feel that we want to stay here a lot longer than 24 hours but we have to move on up north before the weather gets bad.
Cya soon
Daniel & Anna
