Out and around at São Vicente

Some times I find that we are forgetting that we are actually out traveling, it´s very easy to get stuck in the marinas or on the boat instead of getting out and around.

Cape Verde

This morning we did just that- we got out and around the island São Vicente where we are at the moment! The island is really small but also really cool with its mountains, beaches and their assume people. The guy who was driving us around told us a lot about the place and it was worth the money to hire a driver instead of taking the bus or a normal taxi.

I really love this place; I find that the “Cape Verdians” are really nice and laid back people. Even if you are out late at night walking the streets you will feel safe- even the dodgy people are nice to you.

Our crew also went out and around today, to be honest I have the feeling they are a lot better than us when it comes to explore the places they visit- we need to improve our self.

Ready to go

The crew really helped us out to get the boat ready again after our sail from Las Palmas. At the speed of light we have fixed everything that needed to be fixed on-board. Rado went up the mast to inspected the rig, Davo went in the water and inspected the hull, rudder and propellers, Eddy inspected our steering and did a lot of “heavy duty” cleaning (thank you), Max checked the engines and Lisa took care of some surface rust and changed a rope for our furling mainsail.  The boat is 100% ready to take on its next challenge- THE ATLANTIC OCEAN.

The plan is to check out from Cape Verde tomorrow morning and start our long journey to the Caribbean and Martinique.

First of all, I love you guys!

And please double check the GPS-tracker so it works this time. Otherwise Patrick and I will pull together a massive rescue team 😉

Nah everything will go smooth! Just enjoy the crossing and I’ll give you guys a call in a few days to hear that every things all right!

Good luck and don’t do anything I wouldn’t do! (Still remember the crazy “middle of the equator party”) Please don’t do that and be responsible!
