It was not to long ago I started to be interested in free-diving. I have always enjoyed life under water but normally with a huge air supply on my back and equipment to go with it.
It´s an amazing feeling of freedom to spend time under the water without all this “shit” on your body. I already learned the hard way that this sport is really dangerous to do on your own so to have Davide back onboard the boat again really changes things- now we can try to push our “beginners” limits a little bit more without risking to much.
During our time in Shelter bay marina we practiced some static apnea (holding your breath while being still in the water). Both me and Davide managed to break the 4 minutes (4.12) limit after a week training- we are both well happy with that and we are aiming for 5 minutes before this year comes to an end!
My brother, Davide, Davide´s sister Francesca and me went for a weeks “holiday” sailing after our stay on land in shelter bay marina. We went all over the place and we spend most of our time in and under the water, fishing, spearfishing and free diving.
During this “underwater” week we did a few tries to go deeper than normal and we managed to go down to 27 meters (90 feet) before we decided it was best to turn around up towards the surface. We did actually try to go deeper later the same day. My brother Patrik acted as a safety diver and stayed on 10 meters with diving equipment if something should go wrong. Unfortunately both Davides and my ears weren’t up for the task and we had to abort on 24 meters.
Our current goal is 30 meters and I am pretty sure this will happen pretty soon- we will let you guys know when it happens!
