We are now all alone again and moored in the big port of Palermo where we are preparing the boat for our next leg that will take us one step closer to Gibraltar.
Dan- our “paying crew passenger” left the boat a couple of days ago- it was a good experience to have him on-board and we seriously hope that he had a great time together with us. We were a bit out of luck when it came to the wind but overall I think our trip from Malta to Sicily was super-nice. We seriously hope that we will have you on our boat again.
Here is a movie of a dolphin family we met during our trip.
When we arrived to Italy our plan was to do a TEXT-BOOK check in. We called on the radio and went straight to the coast guard office with our papers- they looked at me as I was an “ancient alien” or something – why you come here? you are from Europe – you don’t need to show papers!!. It is pretty strange when you think of it- all over the Mediterranean sea you will find countries that are in the EU- but they all have different ways to handle sailors that comes and visit their country- in Greece they really love the check in procedure and it´s like a sport for them to figure out what paper you didn’t bring with you- and over here they cant be bothered to even look at you or your papers.
