Finally we got some proper winds that led to some proper sailing. It took us under two days to sail 230 nm from Palermo to Sardinia- not fast but we where moving all the time wish is good for your mental health.
Annas seasickness is really getting under control and we are staring to know how to manage it- prepare a lot of food that is easy to reheat during sailing, take seasickness medicine before we leave and so on..
I stopped smoking when we left Palermo and it is easy to do that as long as you are on the sea (it´s pretty hard to buy cigarettes out there), I did good- until we got to an supermarket yesterday!?!?! Why? Seriously I don’t know what happens inside my head- when I smoke the only thing I think of is the cancer and when I don’t smoke the only thing I think of I the bloody cigarettes. I will start over with the stopping part on our next leg towards Mallorca!
We managed to find our self a beautiful small bay on Sardinia where we stayed for two whole days. We where all alone in the bay and it offered us plenty of crystal clear water and beautiful surroundings with high mountains.
We are at this moment moored in a place called Calasetta that is placed on the very south tip of Sardinia. Calasetta is a very quiet and laid back village with a couple of shops, restaurants and a pretty big marina. Compared to Sicily – Sardinia seems to be both super nice and super clean- the people you meet on the streets are very friendly and the place is spotless compered to lets say Palermo that looks and smells more like a dumpster than a historical city.
Our closest future plans looks like this:
We will set sail tonight towards Mallorca where we will stay until we get the winds that will take us down to Gibraltar. The distance from Sardinia to Mallorca is around 250 nm in a straight line- we think this will take us around 3 days.
After Mallorca we will try to go as fast as possible down to Gibraltar where we will prepare the boat for the sail down to the Canaries. We might have some new guests that will “crew up” on Gibraltar and sail with us for a week or two to the Canaries.
