With dolphins in KOTOR

Sometimes it feels like I am the most privileged man walking on this planet, I wonder if I really deserve all of this- traveling around with my dream girl on our dream boat on my dream trip- to whoever made this possible- THANK YOU!

After we left the customs office in Zelenika we motored our way to Tivat and a way to luxury marina, I kid you not- if our boat was on fire they wouldn’t even piss on it. The ships in this marina would cost you more than what you would make on 32 bank robberies and the cost to stay here for 24 hours was way over our budget. But after a short conversation over the VHF with the marina office the offered us to fill up our water tanks and go into town for an hour for a only 5 euros?! Thank you for that!

After we filled up everything we sailed into to this beautiful fjord that took us down to an UNESCO marked very old town called KOTOR.  We are really getting spoiled down here with old beautiful places- it´s like everyday we are waking up in a new “UNESCO world”.

This morning we got up really early and went for a slow slow run/walk up on the city wall that took us up to a old fortress called S:T Johns castle. The view mas magnificent and it was nice to see the sun rise over Montenegro.

A few hours later while doing some job on the boat I could see a huge body jumping next to the boat- a DOLPHIN!?!?!? I didn´t think they swam so far into the fjords- the water is barley salty!

We are planning to leave KOTOR tomorrow morning and sail out to the Adriatic coast again to begin our sail down to Albania.

Some useful coordinates:

  • The marina in Tivat there you can fill up water: N42.26.02 W18.41.36, they are monitoring channel 71 on the VHF
  • A really good anchor place right outside KOTOR: N42.25.4 W18.45.7
