We are now moored once again outside Maikai Marina in Bora Bora after two INTENSE weeks of exploring and sailing together with our four amazing guests. The whole trip has been about nature; sharks, whales, mantas, sting-rays, turtles and a big “on-the-hook-tuna” is just some of the creatures we encountered close up.
Rangiroa is by far the biggest of the atolls here in French Polynesia and you need a lot more time than a week to really see everything that this place has to offer. With a limited time schedule we managed to do 5 different stops inside the lagoon before it was time to continue our trip and sail to Bora Bora.
Our small dive compressor had to work hard during this trip and all of our guests went “down-under” inside Rangiroas blue lagoon. Sofia and Mikaela had never before been diving and it was a pleasure to see them among sharks and stingrays for their first time! Sabrina and Geno that has been diving a lot before went out on their own little underwater mission!
Our new favourite underwater-spot inside the lagoon is a tiny sandy island called Nau Nau. This small island is surrounded by sharks and beautiful corals and even if it is not as spectacular as the diving around the big passes BUT it was definitely worth the effort! Me and Geno even found ourself a couple of small underwater passages that we could free-dive trough!
All around Rangiroa you will find small remote islands with sandy beaches and palm-trees! This place is truly amazing and I can’t wait until we get back to this paradise again!
The weather forecast we downloaded before we started our journey to Bora Bora told us very clearly NOT to go! It took us almost 72 hours and our poor engines had to work almost all the way! Not until we had 50 miles left to our destination the wind could take over and our engines could rest meanwhile we did speeds up to 9 knots!
Bora Bora is nothing like the atolls in Tuamotos but even so, it has a lot to offer besides the many luxurious resorts around the island! We did an intense 4 day cruise around the island and the highlight was for sure our encounter with 4 huge manta rays!
Both Anna, Me and Vera will miss you all!
Thank you Mikaela, Sofia, Geno and Sabrina for this wonderful time together!
Take care and stay safe
